Preparation For A Posterior Crown Restoration
The defective amalgram restoration is shown on a posterior mandibular tooth.
A supercoarse tapered diamond bur and high-speed handpiece create 1.5-mm axial reduction.
A fine diamond bur is used to refine the 1.0-mm reduction at the gingival margin and to complete the butt joint margin.
An impression is obtained utilizing Stand-Out impression material. This is then forwarded to the laboratory to communicate the exact design of the definitive restoration.
Following placement of the definitive crown restoration, a bullet-shaped polisher ensures proper function and surface contour.
